When you think of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, you think of vast forests and hills! The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is a national park and one of the largest forest areas in the Netherlands. The hills are a legacy of the second last Ice Age: more than 130,000 years ago. It's a great place to unwind, and there is so much to see and do: cycling, walking, bird watching, taking in the views, etc.! In addition to its beautiful nature, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug is known for its imposing country houses and castles such as Soestdijk Palace, Amerongen Castle and Zeist Castle.
